This was our first Diwali Celebration with the desi gang in our community. We booked a hall for the 3 hour evening event which included fashion show for the kids, song and dance and some games for the adults as well.
Food was catered by a local Indian restaurant and the kids enjoyed sparklers in the end. Nidhi refused to wear a saree and opted for the usual salwar kameez that was gifted by her Ajji. I had packed the saree just in case she changes her mind after seeing the other kids.
I packed a few vegetables from my pantry in a basket as Nidhi wanted to be a vegetable seller. Instead she walked the "ramp" with a salwar and a vegetable basket in hand. Here is a pic of Nidhi in the saree I wanted her to wear...
The next day we went to one of our family friend's house for a Diwali potluck dinner party and Nidhi enjoyed the fireworks with her friend Diya.
