Salomon Farm Festival

This was our first school trip of the year and second visit to the Salomon Farm festival. Nidhi had fun last year and this year was no different. We reached by 9.30am and were the early birds..it was supposed to rain but thankfully it did not and the weather turned out to be perfect for us. We started the morning with a barrel cart ride and this was a big hit among the children.

After that short 10-15 minute ride (only for kids) we saw first hand the farm machinery and implements used before mechanisation.

Nidhi enjoyed the laundry machine, shucking corn kernels in a hand held machine, grading the corn seeds and sitting on the giant tractors.

We went to the black smith shop to see how they make simple tools and horse shoes.
I was hungry by then and came across an Amish outdoor cookout stall. I wolfed down a pudgy pie (white bread grilled with cherry pie filling over wood fire...awesome!!) and felt a lot better ($2 per pie).

Nidhi loved the horse cart ride around the farm, the fire truck and the pumpkins for sale. She also got some time to play in the hay with her two other friends (Taylor and Amudi). It was time to go back to school and she had lunch with her classmates. We came back home and slept for "n" many hours -totally tired after our field trip.
