The three of us packed our bags and headed to Chicago last month to celebrate our 7th Anniv. It is a 3 hour car ride from Fort Wayne and Nidhi was totally excited about the much awaited road trip. This was Nidhi's first official tour of Chicago. After checking into our hotel on friday evening we just walked across the parking lot to Naf Naf Grill (Mediterranean Cuisine). This was very similar to Chipotle Mexican Grill interms of the service and the interiors. I had pita bread with falafel and it was very delicious and the portion size was good too. Nidhi enjoyed her grilled protein as usual. The next day we went to IKEA and spent close to an hour shopping while Nidhi played in a monitored play area for kids. That was indeed the best part of shopping while she enjoyed playing dress up and cooking/baking. Our next stop was the Aurora Hindu Temple where we had lunch after visiting the temple. Later in the evening we decided to take a train to Union Station. It was a 1 hour train ride and was the best part of our 2 day vacation in Chicago. Nidhi absolutely enjoyed the rocking motion of the train. We took the water taxi to reach Navy Pier from Union Station and ofcourse Nidhi was super excited. It was a warm and humid day and once we reached Navy Pier Nidhi was really tired and sleepy. We ate some ice cream to cool off and then headed back to Union Station to catch the next train back to Naperville. Nidhi's sleep vanished as soon as we sat in the train!! We went to an Indo Chinese restaurant in Schaumburg called Hakka Wok and ate some hot and spicy food. We drove back home the next day with some really good memories of Nidhi's first trip to Chicago.
Here are some snaps of our trip.
